- In Kathmandu you may stay at the Hotel Marshyangdi in Thamel for about US$20 per person sharing a twin on B&B plan. I can also book you into the Sugat, which is more primitive for around US$10 to US$15 on Basantapur Square next to Durbar Square. There are ensuite bathrooms. With a shared bath it gets a lot cheaper, around US$5. There is a lovely roof garden, which looks down on the Square. Breakfast can be ordered up.
STYLE—camping with Karen Swenson as leader
AIR FARE—not included. The airfare costs from the US to Kathmandu should be around $1,500. I use Korean Air but would suggest combing the net.
EXTRAS—Flight Kathmandu/Lhasa: US$ 267
Tibet Visa Fee: US$65 per person
Single Supplement: US$390 for single room and tent in Tibet.
